Universal Village UK Ltd is an independent company offering a range of Organic, Fair trade, Vegan registered teas with real provenance under the brand name Qi (pronounced ‘chee’). If you’re looking for ethical teas, then look no further, we are ranked as one of the most ethical tea brands on Ethicalconsumer.org
Qi teas are not from vast tea plantations, they are sourced from a cooperative of over 400 farmers from rural village communities in Wuyuan County, China. They are grown at altitude in a beautiful, environmentally protected area of the Huang San Mountains where rich soils, fed by abundant rains have been ideal conditions for growing high quality teas for many hundreds of years.
We have always traded directly with our growers and are involved in their communities. Our spring-harvested teas are processed immediately after picking in a purpose-built facility at the tea gardens - there is no long-term storage or warehousing, so we can proudly state that they are some of the freshest and most ethical teas on the market. We only use the finest, fruit, herbs and spices for great tasting teas which are all made with Fairtrade tea (even those that don’t have the FT label).
We are committed to sustainability; the tea facility is run entirely on renewable energy, our teabags are unbleached, free from aluminum staples and all our packaging is either recyclable or compostable. Our organic teas are certified by The Soil Association, they are grown without the use of harmful chemicals, pesticides and herbicides and can be traced right back to the plant.
